At various times, I've been asked to explain a little more about Spiritualism and being a medium. So, I'll give a brief explanation on both Spiritualism and mediumship.
Spiritualism is the science, philosophy and religion of continuous life, based on the demonstrated fact of communication by means of mediumship, with those who live in the spirit world. The Spiritualist religion can be considered non-denominational. The Spiritualists accept and practice spiritual truths as recorded in the bible and all other sacred scriptures, as revealed in the life and teachings of Jesus, the Christ, and all other Holy Avatars of God, and as manifested through cognitive and tangible spiritual transmitting.
Spiritualists believe that all things are alive in God's Light. Spiritualists believe that Divine Law is holy, good and just. Spiritualists also believe that the gift of God to all people is eternal life. Death is not the end at all. It is also believed that those in the natural world, meaning here on earth, and those in the spiritual world can communicate, with one another.
What and who is a medium? Simply put, like a radio is the medium for sound wave communication, a person applying mediumship is one who is able to recognize and be sensitive to vibrations from the spirit world (demonstrating survival) and is an instrument of conveying messages. They are instruments of communication from those who have crossed over, who have gone before us. As an example, if you are sitting for a session with a medium, that medium may start to receive messages, and validated proof of a loved one of yours, for example, who had crossed over.
What needs to be realized about having sessions with mediums, for example, is that there is no guarantee that a medium can connect with, contact the person(s) requested for by the person who is receiving the reading/session. In other words, if anyone has great expectations concerning hearing from a particular loved one, that person could be disappointed.
Those on the other side who are meant to come in at the time of the session or have a real need to would be the one(s) who do make the contact through the medium. It can come as a surprise to the person sitting for the session, because it wasn't what was expected. It is also important to remember that if a person does not receive a message from an expected loved one, it does not mean that loved one who crossed over doesn't care. That loved one does... There are several other reasons (numerous to mention in this short article) why the connection may not have been made at that moment, nor was it meant to be made at that moment, for whatever other reasons were present at the time.
Many Spiritualists believe that a medium's first job is to prove survival concerning the spirit side of life. This is the reason why Spiritualism is also considered a science, as it investigates, analyzes and classifies facts and manifestations demonstrated from the world of spirit. However, there are times as well, that a medium may not make contact with the other side at that particular session, but impart guided messages to help the person with what is truly needed at the time of the session. There is another question I'd liked to address. Is a medium always a Spiritualist? The answer is no. A medium is not always a Spiritualist.
There are many true stories/experiences I can share which led me to the above knowing and understanding, and after having discovered, that I was in fact a medium. However, those true experiences may be meant to be told at another time. For now, I hope what I've shared helped with more insight.
